With that, we come to the end of our little discussion. Needless to say, there are many, many things that we still do not know -- and very likely may never find out -- about fletching in the Realms. Nevertheless, enjoyment can come from the pursuit of knowledge, not necessarily the possession thereof. There have been many rumors that fletching as we know it may be a whole different situation in the near future. With the recent visit of Bowmaster Renshear and his sale of exotic glues and feather flights, it is clear that there will be many more components and issues to fletching that perfect arrow. As of this writing, there are no perceptible differences to using the new components, as arrows fletched with the new supplies still combine with arrows made from the old, but this can change at any time.
Arrows are not the only items with issues to be resolved... carving bows from exotic woods may require quests to find the more elusive woods, Bowmaster Renshear may return with lessons about the art of manufacturing composite bows, there may be more specialized tools made available to allow for variations in each bow we carve (e.g. tuning strength or balance to your personal attributes), the list can go on forever.
In the end, the underlying provision is that we keep fletching and carving not to gain any sort of practical knowledge or monetary wealth, but rather, because we enjoy the challenge of creating useful tools from nothing more than what the land provides us.
Keep da faith, happy fletchin'!
