I transfered to Berkeley from Santa Rosa Junior College, and before that I attended the Fort Bragg campus of College of the Redwoods.
I am currently writing web pages, because thats is where the money is,
and I can work only blocks away from this
view
I also use a lot of GNU software.
GNU Hurd
is interesting, but unlikely to make it big.
The CFENGINE
package is very handy for handling sticky system administration problems.
While not a part of the GNU, the Amanda back-up system very helpful for backing up large sites.
I have coda running on my laptop now, and it is very handy.
The HP48 is what got me through college. It does a bang-up job
on dimensional analysis. It can also take a derivative, some integrals,
change the channel on your T.V. or simulate a tri-corder. There is a
lot of software available for the 48 included some from
HP.
In 1976 I bought my first RPN Calculator. It was an HP25, I used it
when I first went back to school. It was older that many of my fellow
students. You can find a picture of it at the
HP museum.
