Industry

The Berkeley CSUA works closely with entrepreneurs, companies, investors, and active members of the software industry to bring both mentorship and job opportunities to our students. In the past, we’ve hosted infosessions for companies such as Microsoft and Zynga, we’ve organized eTalks by companies such as UserVoice.com and Mint.com, and we were the site of YCombinator’s 2009 Startup School. Interested in working with the CSUA to sponsor an event or to speak at one of our eTalks events? Send us an email at politburo@csua.berkeley.edu, and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours.

Some of our biggest supporters:

YCombinator: In the fall of 2009, the Berkeley CSUA teamed up with the IEEE, ST@B, and YCombinator to sponsor their annual Startup School event. We brought over 800 hackers and entrepreneurs to the UC Berkeley campus, and it was a great success!

Mint.com: Early employee Poornima spoke at one of our biweekly eTalks events about the early days at Mint.com, and how they scaled both their operations as well as their engineering team.

Yahoo: Every fall, we team up with Yahoo to organize our Hack Day event. We give out free food, awesome prizes, and bring together UC Berkeley’s greatest programmers to build cool stuff for a weekend.

Lightspeed Venture Partners: Every summer, Lightspeed Venture Partners gives free office space, mentorship, and $35,000 in grant money to entrepreneurial students from top engineering programs such as Berkeley. In recent summers, multiple CSUA members and alumni have participated.

Palantir Technologies: Palantir has long been an incredible supporter of the Berkeley CSUA, helping us with everything from running workshops to going on paintball outings.
