Discussion on upgrading office machines:
28inch monitors: about $1,200 will be spent on monitors for the office machines
RAM: we’ll be spending $50 to upgrade RAM, by purchasing 4GB of RAM from Evan
graphics card for Beer ($50 to $100?)
headphones for office machines: something around $10 each
mice: about 6 new mice will be purchase as ours are breaking, and having some spares for people to use is helpful.

Buy a coffee machine?
we think offering free coffee (with a suggested donation) would bring more people into the office.
Brandon will be in charge of buying a coffee machine, for ~$200

The mailing archives are now private, only members will be able to access them.

Christopher has updated WP to the latest version

Paintball went great.
Rohan is taking care of purchasing the whiteboards and new erasers.
Rohan is also going to buy DVD-Rs and CD-Rs, and big magnets to mount the tab board on the side of the fridge
Check what’s taking up all the space on the office computers, and delete some of it or buy bigger hard drives
Sean has been approved for office hours
Dwight is in charge of getting a bill from Cal Performances for Startup school so that we can get reinforced.
Dwight is going to send out an announcement about GM3

Planning for winter retreat:
Steven is going to see if we can use his parents cabin

Discussion on constitution:
Are extension students allowed to run for office?
Our constitution says “undergraduates,” this does not seem to exclude extension students, so we don’t plan to propose any change.

Dicussion on banning video games from the office:
Video games make it difficult to do work in the office.
Our office is a good place for people to relax, and games are a good things for that.
The major problem is loud games. We won’t have an official policy, but instead will suggest to our members that they should police themselves.

Rohan is going to investigate MOTD and why it’s so hard to use

Mitch is making fliers for GM3
Mitch is inquiring with LucasArts about having a tour.

GM is the 20th in the Woz, at 5:30pm. Chinese food will be served.
Mitch is going to start calling people to confirm about paintball.

Coding competition grading discussion:
The official judging citeria will be on files with 35 digit random numbers, one with 1 million, 5 million, and 50 million numbers. Due to the low number of entries edge cases are not going to be a grading criteria.

Our library is under utilized and takes up a lot of space. We plan to sort out the less used/valuable books and put them in the lounge. The remaining books will be made more accessible in the office.

Discussion of whether to keep the consoles and TV in office:
The new office only has space for about 3 laptops, more people would probably use the office if there was more space.
Should we box up the consoles?
Discision: no, instead we’ll reorganize the room to make more room for laptops.

Mikey is working on old-soda, hopefully will be finished this week
Lockheed Martin is holding a STARS event on Nov 7th
GM3 is scheduled for the Friday before Thanksgiving
Kitty has been approved for office hours
We will be using the NextGEN photo gallery plugin for the website. It is well supported, and seems easy to use.
Programming contest has received no submissions. Maybe next time we should hold a single day competition instead of a 2-week long one.
We’re going to buy a bunch of door jams because they keep getting lost, and people always think the door is locked.
